PM Gruevski: Macedonia asks no special treatment for joining EU
“Citizens of the Republic of Macedonia share the European ideas and see their future in the European Union. We don't wish for a special treatment, but the same one under which other countries joined the Union. Bilateral issues should not hinder the EU accession process,” Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said Wednesday in his address at the Congress of the European People's Party (EPP) in Bucharest.
“Recently adopted enlargement strategy of the European Commission clearly says that bilateral issues should not hold up the EU accession process of the countries,” he said.
"The enlargement process may significantly contribute to resolving the bilateral issues. The (Macedonian) Government will remain fully committed to the reforms and remarks notified in the last (EC) report, as well as the obligations under the ongoing high level pre-accession dialogue with the EU," Gruevski said.
