New Saraj-Gjorce Petrov bridge put into use

A new bridge at the river Vardar, linking Skopje municipalities Saraj and Gjorce Petrov was officially put into use on Wednesday.

The new 50m bridge, worth Denar 96,8 million (EUR 1,6 million), will enable increased flow of vehicles and excellent link with recreational sites Treska Lake and canyon Matka. It is placed in parallel with the old iron bridge, build more than 50 years ago.

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski expressed satisfaction from the project's realization.

"Bridges symbolize communication and integration, overcoming of obstacles in mutual relations. The Government will continue to support projects that bring people closer and bring benefit to all citizens in Macedonia", said Gruevski and congratulated holiday Kurban Bayram to Islamic followers in Albanian language.

Vice Premier for Implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, Musa Xhaferi said the bridge solved a real problem of citizens in the two municipalities.

Skopje Mayor Koce Trajanovski thanked the Government for its support and cooperation, but also Saraj and Gjorce Petrov municipalities in the realization of the strategic project.
