PM Gruevski: State to invest EUR 30 million in Popova Sapka winter resort
The Government has adopted the master-plan for investments in Popova Sapka winter resort, developed by a renowned international company.
Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said Saturday the plan contained investments in three stages. In the first, Macedonian Power Plants (ELEM) would invest EUR 30 million in a new six-seat cable railway, new tracks and enlargement of the existing ones, bigger parking lots and reconstruction of the main road, as well as other activities towards doubling the capacities for tourists and skiers at Popova Sapka.
The second and third stages involve larger investments in hotels and restaurants, with concessionaires sought through international ads.
"This is a serious investment in this winter resort. The goal is for Popova Sapka to become a big European center that attracts tourists and skiers. There are also plans to give the resort interesting content in the summer period", said Gruevski at the launch of works for overhaul of Corridor 10 railroad sections in Kumanovo.
According to him, the Government has also invested EUR 2,5 million in winter resorts Krusevo and Ponikva.
"There are plans for investments in Pelister, as well as other winter resorts, since tourism is a sector that can bring much revenue to the country", stressed PM Gruevski.
