Government's vision is Macedonia to become regional educational center
The opportunities for investing in Macedonia's education were presented Friday before representatives of world-renowned universities during a conference titled "Macedonia-Education-One World".
The goal is Macedonia to be presented as a leader in the region in relation to higher education and prestigious universities in Europe and beyond to transfer part of their educational process in Macedonia.
According to PM Nikola Gruevski, progress in education is a fundamental method for an overall social improvement in the country, whereas the government's vision is to turn Macedonia into a regional educational center generating highly educated staff.
"Our intention is Macedonia to be turned into a regional educational center. Thus, we are committed to investing in science and education, supporting investments in this field, opening new universities, networking with foreign universities, developing joint scientific projects and attracting foreign universities to open higher education institutions in Macedonia," Gruevski said in his speech at the conference.
Speaking at the event, Deputy PM and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski said today's conference was a chance for universities from around the world to put Macedonia on their maps and to transfer part of their educational process in the country.
"Macedonia offers a lot as a destination for investments, because it includes plenty of factors for realisation of an educational process. I hope in the near future we will be able to announce investments by foreign universities in Macedonia," FinMin Stavreski said.
So far, interest to invest in education has been shown by the Indian company CEL Pvt Ltd, which plans to build an educational complex in the vicinity of Veles.
