FM Poposki: Macedonia a champion in good-neighborliness

It's a fact that the EU Council of Ministers presented the most dynamic framework and the best and most elaborate conclusions and that it is not the first time Macedonia to be facing a blockade, Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki said Wednesday when asked to comment yesterday's conclusions of the Council of the EU.

"The conclusions adopted yesterday are one of the most elaborate for Macedonia thus far. Macedonia is not facing obstacles for the first time. It's important that there is an overwhelming support within EU countries and EU institutions to expand the field of peace, prosperity and stability - the primary goal of the EU itself," Poposki stated.

It is crucial, he added, that all of Macedonia's achievements made recently are noted and this is also very important since the normal order of making progress in the integration process is not maintained.

"This support is clear. A group of leaders, member countries and institutions are seriously committed. We expect and wish similar support to be expressed by the neighbours as well," the FM stressed.

The setting of a certain dynamics can be seen as a vital contribution, according to him.

"The fact that we have conclusions providing certain perspective can be perceived also as a benefit. It is important that at this moment there is no unit of measurement in the metric system of good-neighbourliness - the issue used as a pretext for setting obstacles. Nevertheless, Macedonia is a champion in good-neighbourliness," Poposki noted.
