2nd Organic Food Festival opens in Skopje
The 2nd Organic Food Festival is being held Sunday in Skopje City Mall in organisation of the City of Skopje and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management.
Festival’s goal is to emphasise the importance of natural, organic food for the health of current and future generations but also for maintenance of biodiversity.
Agriculture Minister Ljupco Dimovski opening the festival said that Macedonia has large potential for development and improvement of organic agricultural production and pointed out government's support in the past six years. Since 2007 Denar 11 million were allocated from the budget through 2011 with Denar 110 million and Denar 130 million for this year for organic production system, Dimovski said.
In comparison to 2007 when only 150 organic producers were registered their number reached 780 in 2011, Dimovski said.
Dimovski said that bigger development of organic food production is important for promotion of value and meaning of the organic food. I believe that this event will continue in the following years aimed at uniting all involved subjects and supporters of sustainable organic productions of healthy and safe food in the interest of present and all future generations, he said.
Macedonia's organic food producers are presented at the festival providing tasty, natural organic food for tasting.
