Section of Stip-Strumica main road put into service
Premier Nikola Gruevski, Deputy PM and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski and Minister of Transport and Communications Mile Janakieski on Saturday put into service the Surdulci-Radicevo section of a main road linking Stip and Strumica.
The 10-kilometer section is 7.7 meters wide and features new shoulders, signs and a speed limit of 100 km/h. It was funded by the country's budget with 455 million denars.
Radovis-Strumica regional road is one of the most beautiful sections in eastern Macedonia, said PM Gruevski.
"We are opening a new road enabling more secure and faster traffic. The old tiled road is now a thing of the past," he added.
The PM pledged the government would continue constructing and asphalting roads in an effort to enable settlements to be better connected and developed.
"Its construction was delayed due to obstacles that had occurred with the previous constructor and as a result of the European economic crisis. But, our pledge made to the citizens and our responsibility served as a guideline to overcome all issues," Finance Minister Stavreski said.
The construction of this section, which is important for the inhabitants of southeastern Macedonia, means commitment, according to Minister Janakieski. "We aim to realize each and every projects that is part of our programme."
