The Government will subsidize the installation of solar collectors in households, allocating Denar 6 million (EUR 100,000) for this purpose, said Economy Minister Valon Saraqini at Saturday's press conference.

The Government will subsidize 30 percent of the solar collector's value, or up to Denar 18,000 (EUR 300).

"Only 3,000 out of 600,000 households in Macedonia use solar collectors, but the interest for their installation is increasing, with 2,000 applications registered in 2012", added Saraqini.

According to him, if all households in Macedonia install solar thermal collectors, they will save about 144,000mWh i.e. EUR 80 million.

The public call for this year's subsidies will last until May 31, with the drawing of funds' recipients scheduled for June 8.
