Gjorgjiev: Local elections will be fair, free and democratic
The Government and all other state institutions and organs wished as previously all political parties to participate in the forthcoming local elections. In this direction the Government guarantees that elections which will be held on March 24, will be organised in accordance to the international standards including general requirements of fair, free and democratic elections.
Government Spokesperson Aleksandar Gjorgjiev said this at Sunday's press conference expressing regret that some political parties decided not to participate in the local elections.
Local elections will be held on March 24 in accordance to the Constitution and laws which define this matter are already adopted and cannot be changed.
We have insisted all political parties to be included in this election process. Regarding their influence on Euro-Atlantic integration in the following period we expect comments from European Commission and EU. We consider that the citizens have sense to assess and to decide who will bear the responsibility if this will have implications on our Euro-Atlantic integration, Gjorgjiev said.
