Macedonia to develop new types of rice for better placement and income

Macedonia will develop a production system of quality types of rice for increased income of producers and better placement through exchange of experience with the Turkish Agency for Development and International Cooperation (TİKA) for Development of Quality Rice Production.

A project for development of quality rice production will be carried out based on the protocol on cooperation signed Friday by Agriculture Minister Ljupco Dimovski and Director of the Turkish Agency for Development and International Cooperation (TIKA) for Eastern Europe and the Balkans Ali Maskan.

Dimovski said that the project envisaged technical assistance aimed at enhancing the quality and productivity of the rice and support to rice producers in Macedonia through using new types of rice.

Maskan said that the project was a continuation of the cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management. - We will continue with the same success in the future. There are a lot of things we can learn from each other. We will continue to implement projects from different spheres aimed at exchanging experiences, Maskan said.

A committee consisted of representatives from Turkey and Macedonia will be set up to monitor the implementation of the two-year protocol, which will be chaired by Minister Dimovski.
