Jankuloska-Ulbig: There are no approved asylum requests, MoI measures are efficient

Interior Minister Gordana Jankuloska and Interior Minister of German State of Saxony Markus Ulbig held talks Tuesday in Skopje on Macedonia's EU-integration and the problem of asylum seekers, as well as the measures and activities being undertaken in this regard.

Regarding the issue with the asylum seekers in Saxony, Ulbig emphasized that no asylum request submitted by Macedonian citizens has been approved so far.

Minister Jankuloska informed Ulbig in details about a number of measures, activities and projects the MoI continuously undertakes in cooperation with other state institutions, especially in the sphere of preventing the abuse of the visa liberalization.   

Underlying the significance of the visa liberalization for the citizens of Macedonia, Jankuloska notified some of those activities, such as amendments to laws, stricter border controls, supervision of tourist agencies, transportation companies, continuous campaigns against the abuse of the free visa regime, aimed in particular at members of the Roma community, and a lot of socio-economic measures targeting this vulnerable group.

Minister Jankuloska also stressed that the cooperation of the Macedonian Ministry of Interior with the Ministry of Interior of German State of Saxony was at a traditionally high level, in the spirit of the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries.
