DM Xhaferi visits Macedonian Army peacekeepers in Afghanistan

A delegation of the Ministry of Defence led by minister Talat Xhaferi accompanied by Brigadier General Stojan Dimcov is visiting Macedonian Army peacekeepers which are part of ISAF mission in Afghanistan.

Xhaferi during the visit met with ISAF Deputy Commander, British Lieutenant General Nick Patrick Carter and NATO Deputy Senior Civilian Representative Andrew Steinfeld.

The meeting was focused on progress of democratic processes in Afghanistan, capacity of Afghan security forces and transition plan. Xhaferi pointed out that the Republic of Macedonia fully support the efforts of the international community in providing stable and secured democratic future for Afghanistan, Defence Ministry said in a press release.

He underlined that our country is prepared in line with Alliance's and needs and domestic capacities to participate in new mission and to continue to give positive contribution in promoting Afghanistan society even after 2014.

Xhaferi is scheduled to meet Macedonian peacekeepers whereat he will express them gratitude for showed knowledge and skills and professional accomplishment of given tasks.

Currently, Macedonia has 153 personnel in ISAF deployed on several duties - securing ISAF Command in Kabul and training of Afghan National Army.
