Gruevski: Astana forum, excellent opportunity for presentation of investment benefits

The Astana Economic Forum 2013 was an excellent opportunity to hear different opinions and problems of numerous countries, but also to meet many people. We presented doing business and investment opportunities in Macedonia before about 3,000 people, mainly businessmen, which was our main goal when coming to Kazakhstan, said Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski.

In an address at panel "Dialogue of Global Leaders", PM Gruevski said world's economy was still facing challenges, including uncertainties over solutions for problems caused by Europe's debt crisis.

"The crisis also has an effect beyond Europe's borders, since global economy is linked to the rest of the world", he added.

According to Gruevski, overcoming of global problems required concrete steps well known to states, but their realization depended on the political will of leaders.

"Proactive role of countries is required, close monitoring of developments and appropriate response to economies' needs. Search for investments, development of market economies, as well as full support of countries' leaders in of exceptional importance in the process", he added.

At the Astana forum sidelines, PM Gruevski met with former Italian Prime Minister and European Commission President Romano Prodi, UN Economic and Social Council President Nestor Osorio, and UN Conference on Trade and Development Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi.

Interlocutors referred to global market development, investment potentials and the needs for continual adjustment of states to the requirements of global economy. They stressed the importance of strengthening capacities and states' openness for cooperation, both economically and politically.
