UK assistance in public administration reforms

Establishment and management of competence-based human resources management process in the administration is the goal of the public administration reform project, over which Minister of Information Society and Administration Ivo Ivanovski and UK Ambassador to Macedonia Christopher Yvon signed Tuesday a memorandum of cooperation.

Minister Ivanovski said numerous initiatives for cooperation with the United Kingdom had been undertaken, assisting the establishment and development of service-oriented professional administration.

"We have introduced internationally recognized methods for assessment and improvement of quality in the administration operations and management, with 22 trainings carried out at a central and local level and over 440 trained employees from the mid-management level", said Ivanovski.

He added the new programmes, accompanied by expert and technical assistance, would contribute to the professional development of staff and would enhance their competences towards providing an effective service for citizens through training, mentoring, debates and workshops, handbooks etc.

UK Ambassador Yvon said project results would be visible in several months, whereas efforts would contribute to increased professionalism in administration and improved service for Macedonian citizens.

According to him, this is another step of the United Kingdom in its support on Macedonia's path towards the EU accession.
