FM Poposki: EU enlargement policy should resume

The future of Europe and EU enlargement policy was a subject of discussion at a working breakfast Tuesday in Bled, organized by Slovenian Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Karla Erjavec.

The event brought together Macedonia's Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki, Finnish Minister for European Affairs and Foreign Trade Alexander Stubb, Bosnian Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Zlatko Lagumdzija and Slovakian Deputy PM and FM Miroslav Lajcak.

In spite of the fact that the interest in EU enlargement has been declining, this policy should resume, as it makes Europe stronger and more influential, Poposki said.

At the sidelines of Bled Strategic Forum, Poposki also held talks with Kolinda Grabar, NATO's Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy. He expressed satisfaction that Grabar was set to visit Macedonia this month. At the meeting, Poposki reaffirmed Macedonia's contribution to NATO-led ISAF mission in Afghanistan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.

Macedonia is also ready to offer technical assistance in Afghanistan after 2014, he said.
