Home Visit - new Ministry of Health’s project

Home Visit is the new project of the Ministry of Health which begins on Monday (Nov. 18). The project includes preventive health checkups of over 9.000 elderly people in their homes engaging 340 visiting nurses that work in health centers.

The project will be conducted at the entire country’s territory in 652 populated areas of 84 municipalities. Symbolically it will start before Elderly Care Week from Nov. 18 to 24, Health Minister Nikola Todorov told journalists at Sunday’s press conference.

This is powerful public health measure, recommended by the World Health Organisation which will enable simultaneous care and prevention to the patients, Todorov said.

The accent in the visits will be put on persons with cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, diabetes and other chronic disease. Visiting nurses will conduct determined screening as measuring blood pressure, blood glucose, hemoglobin, cholesterol and in certain cases ECG tests.
