China donates 23 school buses
People's Republic of China has donated 23 school buses to the Republic of Macedonia, used for transport of pupils in elementary and secondary schools, primarily in rural areas.
Company "Yutong", which supplied the double-decker buses for Skopje's public transport, is the school buses' manufacturer.
Vice Premier Teuta Arifi, who is Macedonia's foreign aid coordinator, and China's Ambassador to Macedonia Cui Zhiwei signed Friday the letter on the donation handover. Municipalities that get the buses will soon be determined.
Vice Premier Arifi stressed education and investment in the young generations is the Government's top priority, whereas buses would facilitate the pupils' journey to school.
"China remains our stable and dedicated partner in education support. This cooperation represents a bridge for new projects and initiatives", added Arifi.
Ambassador Zhiwei stressed the donation would contribute to improvement of social life in Macedonia.
"The school buses reflect the friendship of the Chinese people towards Macedonian pupils", he added.
The yellow buses have 35 seats, meeting all required criteria - protective automatic doors, fire extinguisher and safety belt for every seat.
