Macedonia, Hungary to bolster economic cooperation

There are great possibilities for Macedonia and Hungary to bolster the economic cooperation, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said Thursday in Skopje at a business forum of both countries.

The economic cooperation should follow the good political relations, Gruevski said at the event, organized by the Agencies for Foreign Investment of both countries in honor of the visit of Hungarian Prime Minister Victor Orban to Macedonia.

The overall trade exchange has been making modest growth for the last few years, but it is still not satisfactory, reaching only US$ 61,7 in 2012, Gruevski said.

He highlighted Macedonia's activities for improving the business climate, which now offers simple administrative procedures, favourable tax policy, free economic zones…

In spite of the crisis Macedonia has thus far welcomed many foreign companies, Gruevski said.

"Companies from US, China, India and Qatar have expressed great interest to invest in Macedonia, which means that we are on the right track to economic prosperity and inflow of capital," Gruevski said.

Orban on his part called on Hungarian companies to invest in Macedonia, as it is a country that offers good opportunities for success.

The forum was attended by 30 companies representing the sectors of IT, construction, mechanical engineering and tourism.
