Healthgrouper summit in Skopje

The second health summit, organized by international project Healthgrouper, is held in Skopje on Saturday.

Health Minister Nikola Todorov said it is not possible to provide everything, but one should aspire towards providing an increasing number of services.

"Every politician and minister chooses among priorities. The policy will be as successful as the selected priorities. It is not possible to have everything, sometimes we must say no, but we need to be careful and pass decisions that are beneficial for citizens", said Todorov.

Health Insurance Fund director Maja Parnardzieva-Zmejkova stressed this was the first event for open and public debate on the difficult decisions in the Fund and the Health Ministry over the allocation of funds.

"In practice, we do not have sufficient funds for all health needs of citizens. However, numerous interventions are now carried out in Macedonia for lower prices instead of abroad", added Parnardzieva-Zmejkova.

The summit, organized in cooperation with the Health Ministry, the Health Insurance Fund, the World Health Organization for Europe, the Macedonian Doctors' Association, and the Association of Albanian Doctors in Macedonia, brings together guests and lecturers from Harvard and Israel.
