PM Gruevski: Pensions, salaries, social aid to increase

Pensions and social aid will increase by five percent in March, whereas salaries in state and public sector are to rise by the same percentage in September, said Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski on Sunday.

"This is a time when salaries, pensions, even social aid are lowered in most countries due to the European debt crisis. We have found a way, primarily because we promised, but also due to the proper budget management, to increase salaries, pensions and social aid", Gruevski told reporters after the promotion of new titles within edition "Stars of World Literature".

Pertaining to the idea of sharing a diplomatic building-embassy with another country for the purpose of savings, Gruevski said the Foreign Minister has communicated over the issue with counterparts from Serbia, Turkey, Slovenia, Montenegro and Croatia.

"The idea is not joint diplomacy. There is no politics behind this, only cutting costs and nothing more", added Gruevski.

Our diplomatic missions, he added, would act separately, but for the purpose of rent savings, the idea is that we give room to diplomatic representatives of other countries in larger premises and vice versa.

"Thus, Macedonia could have diplomatic offices in countries where it is not currently represented", stressed PM Gruevski.
