Sixty titles of edition Stars of World Literature promoted

Sixty new titles of edition "Stars of World Literature" were promoted on Sunday, in the framework of the Government's project of publishing 560 works.

Works of the ancient Egyptian literature, mythologies, Van Gogh letters, novels by Solzhenitsyn, Shaw, Grass, Borges, Poe, Proust, Zola, Mann etc have been translated in Macedonian.

"These are the most significant works of global literature of all times. Most of them are translated in Macedonian for the first time, which is of exceptional significance for our language, translators, proofreaders, publishers, and readers", said Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski at the promotion.

Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska said the project represented a vital step in establishing Macedonia as a country that respects and affirms global literary values.

"These works will bring a new dimension in perceiving the secrets of world literature, determining a fresh incentive in Macedonia's cultural life", she added.

The project is to be completed by the end of 2014 or the start of 2015.
