Pesevski: Macedonia - investment destination for German companies
The largest employers that opened new jobs in the past period came from Germany. That’s why we put the accent in this region because we think that there are many companies from several industries that could identify Macedonia as new investment destination, Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Vladimir Pesevski said after the business forum in Munich.
We think it is the right time now when several companies have already showed that Macedonia is the right place for investment, to additionally increase the activities and this to result in new investments and finally opening new jobs in the country, Pesevski said.
The opportunities for investment in Macedonia were seen by Comfy Angel company in Prilep, which produces all kinds of bedding.
Jenny Mokosi from Comfy Angel at the business forum in Munich said that they plan to expand their business in Macedonia.
Until recently we have supply only in the UK. As the sales started to grow towards the European consumers, the demand increased and we have expanded in Prilep, invested in machinery, employed new people and felt that the opportunities with operations in Prilep are endless. The company will develop in large and strong business in the next 5 to 10 years, Mokosi said.
The businessman Frank Folk pointed out the good conditions offered by the Macedonian government and the support given to the foreign investors.
There were talks on low costs and low taxes but when I visited Macedonia and talked to businessmen there the most impressive thing for me was how Directorate for Technological Industrial Development Zones is set and how government officials take care for the companies that come to Macedonia. They do not say come to Macedonia and you will pay no taxes here and good luck, but they most sincerely give support and assistance and are fully flexible and are fully unbureaucratic when resolving the problems, Folk said.
