Workshop on human trafficking efforts in Western Balkans

Minister of Labor and Social Policy Dime Spasov addressed Wednesday a regional workshop in Skopje on efforts in the combat against human trafficking in the Western Balkans.

"Timely identification and undertaking of appropriate measures for protection and overcoming of trauma remove the long-term negative effects among victims. This requires comprehensive policy in the fight against human trafficking through coordinated action of all relevant institutions and organizations. Moreover, an essential prerequisite for preventive effective measures leading to early detection of potential victims of this crime is building and enhancement of relevant national and local institutions and staff", said Minister Spasov.

According to him, the National Action Plan against Human Trafficking and Illegal Migration 2013-2016 highlights the activities in the struggle against trafficking of children.

"The goal is prevention, raising public awareness, strengthening of institutional mechanisms for prevention and protection of human trafficking victims, as well as development and implementation of programmes for re-socialization and re-integration of victims in society", added Spasov.
