Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Biljana Belicanec – Aleksic, Mayor of the Skopje municipality Kisela Voda, handed over Sunday certificates for legalization of illegal houses to 50 residents of  this municipality.

The Government has found the way to resolve a longstanding social problem and enable to a great number of citizens to legalize their homes, Gruevski said at the ceremony.

About 350.000 citizens have taken advantage of the possibility to apply for legalization of their homes, which demonstrates the magnitude of the problem with the illegal buildings in Macedonia, Gruevski said.

The deadline for applying has been extended until the end of 2014. Thus far close to 100.000 out of 350.000 applications have been resolved.
