Children's resorts on sale - an opportunity for tourism development

Six state-owned children's resorts in Sveti Nikole, Berovo, Bitola, Star Dojran and Skopje will go on sale.

This decision is aimed at intensifying tourism by boosting the offer and offering more opportunities for private businesses, government spokesman Aleksandar Gjorgiev said Tuesday.

Future owners of these resorts will be obliged to operate exclusively in this sphere following the rehabilitation and renovation of these facilities.

"A public electronic auction for property alienation is due to take place in mid-August. The initial price of these resorts will be set from 50,000 to 400.000 euros. The companies in the next two to three weeks have the chance to think and make a decision regarding possible investments," Gjorgiev told a news conference.

The locations of these resorts, which have been out of order for a period of time, offer excellent conditions to run businesses, it is estimated. They are favorable in particularly for the development of mountain, alternative, lake or rural tourism, the government spokesman stated.

Gjorgiev noted that tourism development was one of the government's strategic goals adding that previous projects, measures and activities had already generated positive results.
