Macedonian Government condemns language used by Greek soldiers
The Government of the Republic of Macedonia in a statement on Sunday strongly condemns the violent and threatening language used by Greek soldiers, which is "characteristic for some ancient times." These acts instigate inter-state hatred, it is said.
The Government is taking all necessary diplomatic measures to condemn this incident and similar events in the Republic of Greec that do not contribute to promoting good neighborliness and spirit of cooperation, reads the statement.
"The fact that similar indecent and uncivilized events have been occurring for years in the Republic of Greece raises concern and the public has no memory of the authorities issuing an official apology. Perhaps they have noting against when Macedonians, Albanians or Turks are spending their money there as tourists while apart from that they chant about 'sucking their blood'", reads the Government's statement.
At the same time, it is stressed that the European Union is ignoring and tolerating the incident, when it shouldn't.
"We have witnessed exaggerated reactions about events in the country, however it is regularly ignored when such language and incidents take place in the Republic of Greece. For the well-being of the European idea and values, it is necessary these practices and brutal expressions of the most radical nationalism in state structures to be met by strong condemnation," the Government concludes.
