Turkey's Dempo Group to invest in two plants in Macedonia
The Turkish company "Dempo Group" will invest in the construction of two plants in Macedonia where 300 jobs will be created. Packaging will be manufactured in the first one in which 3 million dollars are going to be invested and marble and mosaics will be produced in the second plant with an estimated worth between 2.5 and 3 million dollars.
The investment was announced Thursday by the company's owner Muzaffer Polat after his meetings with Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and the government delegation, which is presenting Macedonia's investment benefits during its visit to Turkey.
"Four months ago we visited Macedonia and the agenda was organized by the Invest Macedonia and its representative in Ankara. We have scanned the entire country before deciding to invest there. We plan on launching two operations in Macedonia - the first one is in the sector of packaging and manufacturing in a plant costing 3 million dollars. 150 jobs will be opened with the first operation," stated Polat.
The plan is, he added, to transfer a part of the company's capital in Macedonia in the construction of a plant for marble and mosaics. "Our company also is involved in the production of marble from Turkey in Macedonia. Marble processing is planned i.e. production of marble mosaics. Initially, 150 jobs will be created with 300-400 employments that are expected in the final stages. An investment of 2.5-3 million dollars is going to be made in the initial stage for the production of marble," Polat explained.
"Dempo Group" intends to increase the amount of the two investments. "For the first packaging investment we plan on starting in the first quarter of 2015 and the investment for marble and mosaic production will be launched in the second quarter of 2015," said Polat who is also the owner of several production plans for coal, packaging and marble in Turkey.
PM Gruevski voiced satisfaction with the decision of the Turkish company to invest in Macedonia. The Turkish investor, he added, wants to realize the investment as soon as possible and as a result a delegation is set to visit Macedonia to find locations for the factories.
"There is huge interest in all the cities we have visited. Yesterday, 'Dempo Group' had notified us about its decision to invest in Macedonia in two plants for marble processing and for the production of various types of packaging. For starters, a total of 300 people are planned to be hired in the two plants and there's a chance the number to be increased in later stages. They haven't decided yet on where to build therefore their next visit will be focused on finding a location. Nevertheless, they have told us that they had made a final decision to invest in Macedonia due to the conditions it offers," stated Gruevski.
