Promotion of 10 anthologies of Macedonian literature translated in six languages
The project '135 Volumes of Macedonian Literature', already translated in English, will be also available in six additional languages.
The National University Library 'St. Clement of Ohrid' will publish a total of 48 anthologies of selected Macedonian poetry, short stories, drama, literature for children, literary criticism, essays, novels in French, German, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Arabian language.
The Ministry of Culture promoted Friday the first ten anthologies of the project, dubbed 'Translation of Macedonian Literary Works in Six Foreign Languages', which offer selection of Macedonian poetry translated in Russian, Spanish and French; Macedonian short stories in Chinese and Russian; Macedonian essays in Spanish and Chinese and Macedonian novels - Volume 1 - in Russian and Chinese.
This project will bring Macedonian culture and rich literary opus to fans of written works across the globe, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said at the promotion.
The project reaffirms the government's commitment to promote Macedonia's literature on the global scene, the PM said, expressing hope that the anthologies would find their place in many national libraries, scientific-educational institutions and private residences.
After completion of the project, the anthologies will be distributed to national libraries and scientific-educational centers in countries where the six above mentioned languages are spoken, Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska said.
