Macedonia's Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski and Albania's Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta expressed satisfaction Tuesday with the good bilateral relations.
"Both sides voiced their commitment to European, Euro-Atlantic integration as strategic orientation of the two countries. They affirmed their readiness for bolstering the economic cooperation, trade exchange and collaboration in realizing infrastructural projects," the Government said in a press release.
At the meeting, Gruevski referred to ongoing Government's reforms, saying that the Republic of Macedonia is committed to further development of the good-neighborly relations with Albania and the bilateral cooperation.
In this respect, Gruevski notified the ongoing infrastructural projects within the Corridor 8, construction of the Kicevo-Ohrid highway and preparations for constructing a railway to Albania's border. He affirmed the readiness of Macedonia's Government for additional energy connection between the two countries. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has expressed interest in financing the project, the press release reads.
Meta commended the achievements of Macedonia's Government, particularly the ones related to attracting foreign investors, agriculture and food safety. Albania may learn from Macedonia's experiences in these spheres, being ready for bolstering the cooperation, Meta said.
Meta voiced his country's interest in railway linking of the two countries, which he considers is significant for bolstering the bilateral and the trade exchange with the countries in the region.
Gruevski and Meta also reviewed the possibilities for boosting the cooperation in the sphere of tourism and other economic sectors of mutual interest.
