Italian company Diatek opens EUR10m - plant in Macedonia, intends to employ 200 people
Italian hi-tech company Diatec, world leader in digital printing technology, on Wednesday set into operation the factory 'Makdia' in Macedonia.
The factory, located in the Technical-Industrial Development Zone (TIDZ) Bunardzik, already has 35 employees and is expected to soon recruit additional 200 workers. The company has invested about EUR 10 million in this project.
Most of the new plant's production is aimed for Eastern Europe, Turkey, Persian Gulf and North African countries.
The opening ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, Vice-Prime Minister and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski, Vice-Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Vladimir Pesevski and Italian Ambassador to Macedonia Massimo Beleli.
The inflow of foreign investments resumes and the Government's measures for advancing the business climate will gradually attract more companies to build their factories in Macedonia, Gruevski said at the opening ceremony.
"TIDZs in Skopje are just a symbol how to make something out of nothing, namely how to turn grassland into a set of factories... The number of investors in these zones has been increasing constantly. Visteon, Johnson Matthey, Teknohose, Kemet Electronics, Van Hool are already here, joined officially today by Diatek," Gruevski said.
The new factory is also a result of one of many contributions of Macedonian Diaspora in terms of attracting foreign investors in the country, the PM said.
Ambassador Beleli and Diatec owner Diego Mosna said the good location, political stability and favourable business opportunities attracted foreign companies to invest in Macedonia.
