Project on mixed ethnic groups in kindergartens resumes

The government will take over the implementation of the "Mosaic" project envisaging mixed ethnic groups to be formed in kindergartens after the Swiss government has said it will quit financing the project since the period of its implementation expired. The government will approve jobs to be opened for teachers in the kindergartens engaged in the project.

"The government has to  take over the project, because without financing it might end, which would be unfortunate since its results are excellent," PM Nikola Gruevski said Tuesday visiting a kindergarten in Skopje's Gazi Baba municipality.

He said a joint decision was reached for the project to be resumed with Minister of Labour and Social Policy Spiro Ristovski and Vice PM and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski.

Children attending kindergartens, where the project is being implemented, are taught to live side by side, to play and hang out together.

"It was concluded that the government should support the project because it contributes the country to improve the multi-ethnic coexistence in the future," PM Gruevski said.

The "Mosaic" project is being implemented in nine municipalities. Teachers who speak Macedonian, Albanian, Turkish... have been engaged depending on the structure of inhabitants in a municipality.
