Stop Paedophilia website launched
The Ministry of Labour and Social Policy Friday launched website www.stop-pedofilija.org.mk containing information how to spot a paedophile, who can be a victim of sexual abuse and where children can ask for help.
In cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science and Macedonian Red Cross, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy is conducting educational workshops in 126 primary and secondary schools but it also chose this form of informing the youngest because they are the most common users of the Internet.
Its primary goal is raising public awareness and motivation of children who were already sexually abused to report it. They would be able to report any abuse because the efficiency is in prevention, prior children to be hurt, Minister Spiro Ristovski said launching the website.
It contains data of spread of this phenomenon paedophilia, the profile of paedophile, blog for exchange of information and phone numbers of all centres for social work in the country.
Ristovski said that the number of convicted paedophiles is not large and he cannot tell the exact number prior to passing of Paedophiles Registry Law. However there were 65 to 70 children victims in 2011, which is by 50% more compared to 2010 when 47 victims were registered, Ristovski said.
