Macedonian police seize 22.4kg of heroin in two separate actions
Macedonia's police within operation Bosphorus in the past 24 hours have busted two channels for illicit trafficking in drugs. The two actions have resulted in the arrest of four people and confiscation of 22.4 kilograms of heroin, worth between 550.000 euros and 3.000.000 euros on black markets.
In the first case, nearly two kilograms of heroin were seized, which were hidden in a vehicle. The narcotic was procured by two persons, who are now in 30-day custody, ordered by an investigative judge.
The police prevented the smuggling of 20 kilograms and 400 grams of heroin intended for western European countries during operation Bosphorus 10, which is conducted in cooperation with the Turkish police.
"Part of the narcotic was seized in Turkey and the rest was confiscated in Macedonia. It was transported from Turkey via Greece and Albania to Macedonia," Interior Minister Gordana Jankuloska stated.
362 kilograms of pure heroin have been seized so far in operation Bosphorus. Its value is estimated at 15.500.000 euros on foreign markets. Charges have been filed against 40 perpetrators.
