Macedonia meets significant strategic objectives in fighting against human trafficking
The most significant strategic objectives in the fight against trafficking in persons have been met in 2011 in line with the national strategy and national action plan, Interior Minister Gordana Jankuloska said at a press conference Thursday involving annual reports on human trafficking in Macedonia in 2011.
In a report by the US Department of State, Macedonia is once again ranked amongst countries that have fully met criteria and standards in the combat against human trafficking.
"The Government of Macedonia will continue paying special attention to anti-trafficking projects considering the fact that Macedonia is both a country of origin and destination for victims of human trafficking. Most victims in Macedonia in the past six years are local underage girls," Minister Jankuloska said.
She added that a new action plan for 2012 to 2015 was going to be drafted in cooperation with the German Society for International Cooperation.
