68 new double-decker buses promoted

Skopje's public transportation has been enriched Saturday with additional 68 new double-decker buses, manufactured by the Chinese company Yutong. They are a donation from the Government to the capital's public transportation enterprise (JSP).

The double-deckers meet all the required standards and are adequately equipped.

"Over a year ago, many people didn't believe that the Government would fulfill its promise to renew JSP's fleet of buses. I assure you that it will be completed and that Skopje will get a new fleet of public buses," PM Nikola Gruevski said in his address at the promotion.

A total of 216 new buses have been put into service out of 313 that are envisaged for complete renewal of JSP's fleet.

Minister of Transportation and Communications Mile Janakieski said that the new double-deckers had given a new image to Skopje making it more recognizable.

136 double-deckers, 80 low-floor buses and 16 mini-buses have been put into use thus far.
