Skopje's Prvomajska street to be reconstructed and expanded

The City of Skopje kicked off Sunday a major project expanding and reconstructing "Prvomajska" street in Skopje's Kisela Voda municipality.

In line with the project, the street is expected to be turned into a boulevard with four lanes. Construction works will be completed in nine-months' time. Four million Euros have been provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the City of Skopje.

PM Nikola Gruevski, Vice Premier and Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski, Transpoprt Minister Mile Janakieski, Skopje mayor Koce Trajanovski were in attendance at the event.

PM Gruevski said the reconstruction and expansion of "Prvomajska" street would solve one of the most crucial issues for the citizens of Skopje.

"With the reconstruction, another bottleneck will be removed in Skopje and the capital will get a new boulevard that is going to correspond with the new image of Skopje," Gruevski stated.
