Economy Minister not expecting oil supply problems
Economy Minister Valon Saraqini does not expect OKTA refinery to have any problems with oil derivatives, despite announcements coming from Iran over delivery of crude oil to Greece.
"I can say with certainty that Macedonian citizens will not have any problems until June, because there are sufficient quantities of oil and oil derivatives for this period. We communicated with the Macedonian Liaison Office in Athens, which said oil supply from Iran to Greece was guaranteed up to June", said Minister Saraqini at Friday's roundtable related to access to energy networks.
According to him, OKTA management has also confirmed oil supply would not be interrupted by June. However, if this occurred, the country would rely on alternative suppliers, such as Russia, Qatar etc.
"There is no indication for now that interruption in oil supply from Iran could result in increase of oil derivatives' prices in Macedonia", stressed Saraqini.
OKTA refinery, owned by Greek company Hellenic Petroleum, is the only producer of oil derivatives in Macedonia, supplying majority of the country's distributors.
