A government economic team led by Vice PM and Minister of Finance, Zoran Stavreski at a meeting on Tuesday with the governor of the Krasnodar region, Alexander Nikolayevich Tkachev discussed the possibility of exporting Macedonian wine, fruit and vegetable to Russia for the Winter Olympic Games in Soci.

"Today, we discussed with the governor that there is a great chance to export agricultural produces from Macedonia into the region of Krasnodar, especially to meet the needs during the Winter Olympic Games in Soci in 2014. The offer in the course of the Winter Olympics and in the whole region can be enriched with Macedonian produces," Vice PM Stavreski said while presenting Macedonia's investment opportunities before the business community in Krasnodar.

Agriculture is one of the most important economic branches in Macedonia with a 12% participation in country's GDP. Macedonia, he added, is a country with good climate, while our agricultural produces, especially fruit and vegetable have excellent quality.

Speaking before potential investors, Stavreski presented the tax policy of Macedonia. The country could be attractive as a market for foreign companies because it has signed free trade agreements with all EU countries.

"Having signed free trade agreements with all EU countries, Turkey and its neighbouring countries, Macedonia is a market of 650 million consumers," Stavreski noted.

He underscored that Macedonia was a favourable destination for foreign investors because of its macroeconomic and financial stability as well as fiscal stability for promotion of growth.

Minister for Foreign Investments, Bill Pavleski said today's forum was successful. He added that Russian investors had shown interest in Macedonia's offer for growing agricultural products to be exported from Russia into the European Union.

Fiscal conditions in the economic zones as well as the ten-year tax exemption and the possibilities to export into the EU raised interest amongst Russian businessmen.

On Wednesday, the government team led by Vice PM Zoran Stavreski will present Macedonia's investment opportunities to Russian companies in Soci.
