FM Poposki meets German MP Beyer

Foreign Minister Nikola Poposki and Peter Beyer, German MP and member of the Bundestag Committee on Foreign Affairs, discussed Friday in Skopje on EU enlargement policy regarding the Western Balkan countries and the significance of their European integration processes for the region's stability.

The EU membership remains a strategic goal of Macedonia's foreign policy, Poposki said, briefing the guest about the Government's intensive activities in conducting the set reforms  and the country's overall democratic transformation in line with the European standards. Opening of Macedonia's EU accession negotiations as soon as possible will be beneficial not only for the country, but also for the region and the Union, he said.

Beyer voiced support of Macedonia's road to full-fledged NATO membership, as well as for swift launching of the country's EU accession talks, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release.
