Shaban Saliu
Shaban Saliu is an experienced lawyer, politician and protection and rescue expert. He was born on 6 January 1961 in Gostivar.
Saliu graduated from the Faculty of Law within the University Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje where he obtained the title of Bachelor of Laws. Afterwards, he continued his education at the FON University in Skopje where he completed the master’s studies in political and legal science. He defended his master thesis on the topic “Politics in International Agreements - Imperative for Prevention and Rescue in Disasters.” Saliu completed his doctoral studies at the University Megatrend in Serbia defending the thesis: “Protection and Rescue System in the Republic of Macedonia - Political, legal and security aspects.”
Saliu's professional career began in 1988 as an expert associate in the Court of Joint Labor in Skopje, and then in the Basic Court in Gostivar. In 1995 Saliu started working as a lawyer in his own practice in Skopje until 2006.
In 2006, he was elected a member in the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, where he remained until 2008. In the period between 2008 until 2017 he was director of the Protection and Rescue Directorate where he oversaw managing the protection and rescue system.
Saliu authored numerous scientific papers and books, among which: “Political, legal and security aspects of the protection and rescue system” and “Global Trend for global solution: Climate changes - threat for the world stability.”
Shaban Saliu is fluent in Macedonian and has good knowledge of the English language.
