Police break up international criminal group specialized in credit card scam
Macedonian police, namely the unit for computer crime within the Ministry of Interior (MoI), have busted a 13-member international criminal group, specialized in producing and using counterfeit credit cards.
The group is comprised of 12 Macedonian and one Montenegrin national, Minister of Interior Gordana Jankuloska said Wednesday at a press conference.
MoI has already brought criminal charges against the 13 individuals to the Public Prosecutor's Office, Jankuloska said.
Under court orders, police teams searched the homes of the members of this criminal group and found equipment for copping data from and producing counterfeit credit cards.
Some of the group members have already been subject of criminal charges or served prison sentences for the same offences in Macedonia, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Greece and Serbia.
