FM Poposki meets Slovenia's Deputy PM Novak

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Poposki met Tuesday in Skopje with Slovenia's Deputy Premier and Minister for Slovenians Abroad, Ljudmila Novak.

Interlocutors expressed satisfaction with the positive trend in the development of overall Macedonian-Slovenian ties and mutual cooperation, MoFA said in a press release.

On his part, FM Poposki voiced gratitude for the integration of Macedonian immigrants in Slovenia's society and for the opportunities to preserve and affirm their national and cultural identity. He also welcomed Slovenia's financial assistance to the community of Macedonians in realising projects related to culture and education. At the meeting, Poposki presented an initiative on signing an agreement protecting the Macedonian minority in Slovenia and the Slovenian minority in Macedonia, stressing that Macedonia had already inked similar documents with other countries in the region.

Slovenian Deputy PM Novak confirmed the successful integration of Macedonians in Slovenia, thanking for the positive treatment of Slovenia's minority in Macedonia.

The two ministers concluded that the activities of the Macedonian associations in Slovenia and the Slovenian ones in Macedonia laid the foundation to enhance bilateral relations, stated the press release.
