Dimovski: Positive reviews from EC incentive for more aggressive implementation of agricultural policies
The report of the European Commission on the progress of the Macedonian agriculture four years in a row marks a progress and gives positive reviews in several segments.
As said today at a press conference the relevant Minister Ljupco Dimovski, the Report emphasizes the allocation of increased funding for direct support, progress in organic production, quality policy through the full implementation of the legislation on marketing standards, labeling and tagging requirements as well as in establishing an integrated administration and control system of measures of direct payments with the establishment of the Land Parcel identification System.
The start of the editing activities of the markets in agricultural products was also recorded, a segment in which the ambitious agenda of adopting bylaws especially in terms of quality and classification of agricultural products remains to be implemented.
There are some notes in the report, but they, stressed the minister, are referring mainly to the lack of institutional capacity. The Government is making efforts to meet these difficulties by employing experts especially in Paying agency or through the eventual redeployment of available staff.
According to him, the future focus of the Ministry will be vigorous implementation of the Action Plan for the greater absorption of IPARD funds.
The European Commission believes that the preparations in the area of food safety and veterinary policy are in a good way. Progress has been made in the control of animal diseases and their well-being, as well as in the area of marketing, fodder and animal products.
- The progress has been particularly evidented in terms of strengthening the institutional capacities of the Agency, as well as in the implementation of programs for control and eradication of infectious diseases, said the director of the Food and Veterinary Agency Dejan Runtevski.
