PM Gruevski congratulates Revolutionary Struggle Day
Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski sent Monday a note of congratulations to all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia and the diaspora on behalf of the Government and on his personal behalf ahead of tomorrow's national holiday - the Day of Macedonia's Revolutionary Struggle.
119 years ago, the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organisation (VMRO) was founded on October 23.
"The organised actions and motivation of our predecessors to create a free and independent Macedonian state are one of the brightest moments in Macedonia's history. Such an ideal emerged in late 19th century and in early 20th century, when it was turned into an organised intellectual and armed movement, whose primary goals are freedom and justice. The symbol of this motivation is the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (VMRO), established on 23 October 1893," reads the note.
By celebrating the day, it adds, we pay tribute to the great deeds of Macedonia's history.
"Ideals had been fulfilled and the nation's struggle for freedom, justice and human rights had been waged under the wing of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle... It become an organisation that highly respected the cooperation with other communities living here...," says Gruevski in the note.
"We have an obligation to continue making the Republic of Macedonia a stronger, modern and prosperous country, a member of the European Union and NATO. The achievements of VMRO are examples of admiration and respect," Gruevski says congratulating the Day of the Macedonian Revolutionary Struggle (Oct. 23).
