The 10. campaign "Tree Day - Plant Your Future" was held in Macedonia on Wednesday under the slogan "It's Sportsmanlike to Plant".

The campaign's Initiative Board said it was successful with a turnout beyond the expectations in spite of the poor weather conditions.

Over 3 million seedlings have been planted at 800 hectares. "Makedonski Sumi" will plant additional 2 million seedlings by the year-end.

For the purpose of mass turnout, the Government has decided to declare Wednesday a non-working day.

Traditionally, President Gjorge Ivanov, Premier Nikola Gruevski, ministers, members of the diplomatic corps, army, students, athletes and other prominent figures joined the campaign.

Since the campaign's launch in 2008, 12,200 hectares have been afforested with 30,4 million seedlings.
