PM Gruevski addresses Tirana business forum

Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski voiced political support to Macedonian-Albanian business initiatives and enhancement of bilateral trade at a business forum held in Tirana on Friday.

"Macedonia and Albania have to show that the SEE region is turning into a new and attractive destination on the global investment map", said Gruevski in his address.

Taking into account the enormous unused possibilities for countries' companies, Gruevski urged Albanian businessmen to visit Macedonia and use its comparative advantages.

"The Government is prepared to provide full support in the realization of your business plans, investments, business endeavors and cooperation with Macedonian companies", stressed the PM.

He referred to Macedonia's placement at the 23. spot in the World Bank's Doing Business report, coming before 20 EU member-states and all regional countries.

"Albanian businessmen will come across favorable business environment in Macedonia. We have stable economy, stable macro-economy, low inflation, stable currency. The country offers the best tax package and lowest doing business costs in Europe", said Gruevski, adding that free economic zones represent an excellent opportunity for investments.

He also focused on good neighborly relations as an important part of the countries' European vision.

"Throughout history, our peoples had been occupied and witnessed many conflicts. Today SEE has the historic chance to unite around the Euro-integration process, building sound foundations of political, economic and cultural cooperation. Pan-European corridors are not only transport routes, but also development belts uniting us around our European values", added Gruevski.

He reiterated that Macedonia and Albania have identical strategic policy regarding EU accession, whereas the former has met all NATO criteria, the only obstacle being the blockade by Greece.

"We have assumed the same strategic direction, and there is good dialogue between countries' governments through frequent meetings", underlined PM Gruevski.
