Chinese assistance for motorways, roads construction
Construction of motorway section Miladinovci-Stip, reconstruction of road section Stip-Kocani, as well as construction of motorway Kicevo-Ohrid and road section Ohrid-St.Naum are the priority infrastructure projects that the Government is to realize in cooperation and support provided by the People's Republic of China.
Minister of Transport and Communications Mile Janakieski and China's Ambassador to Macedonia, Cui Zhiwei signed the agreement on Tuesday.
"The agreement gives priority to infrastructure projects, i.e. road and railroad network, bridges, energy and telecommunications facilities, encouraging cooperation among banks and companies in both countries, towards continual and successful cooperation", said Minister Janakieski after the signing.
A portion of the EUR 10 billion allocated by the Chinese Government towards development in Southeast Europe would be used for the funding of the sections, by way of crediting through the Export-Import Bank of China.
"The dynamics and dimensioning of these projects will go in line with the strategy on Macedonia's foreign debt", added Minister Janakieski.
Ambassador Zhiwei stressed the agreement came as a result of long-standing preparations and talks between the two governments, representing an opportunity for enhancement of cooperation.
The cooperation agreement also encompasses technical assistance from experts, training, procurement of machinery, equipment and materials, experience exchange etc.
