Defense Minister Fatmir Besimi held talks Monday in Madrid with his Spanish counterpart Pedro Morenes Eulate and Chief of the Spanish Defence Staff, Admiral Fernando Garcia Sanchez.

The talks addressed possibilities for boosting the bilateral cooperation in the defense and security sectors, Macedonia's Ministry of Defense said in a press release.

The hosts affirmed Spain's support of Macedonia's accession to NATO, saying that the country has been playing a significant role in strengthening the regional stability and security.

Besimi and his hosts also referred to the region's contribution to international peace missions and its Euro-Atlantic integration.
