Macedonia's investment benefits presented in Seattle
A number of U.S. companies showed interest for Macedonia's investment benefits, with some announcing their visit to the country, in order to obtain details over possible investments.
The Government team led by the Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski held a presentation in Seattle, attempting to attract logistics and IT companies to Macedonia.
"A negative effect of the crises in recent years is the reduction in the number of investing companies, but those who want to invest would like to see a competitive market with lower costs, such as the Macedonian. Therefore, we targeted those sectors with enormous competitiveness regarding doing business costs", said Gruevski after the Seattle presentation.
The business presentations also included experiences by companies which have already invested in Macedonia or World Bank representatives.
"When we are the only ones talking, those who listen could have doubts, since the Government praises its own results, but when a World Bank official or an investing company confirm this, the whole presentation is credible, which results in increased interest by investors", added PM Gruevski.
The Government is planning to send a third economic promoter in the United States this January.
"We are enhancing our presence in the U.S. because this is the richest, the most powerful country in business terms. It has a number of global companies that invest not only in the States, but worldwide", said the PM.
Macedonia's investment benefits were presented before 40 companies from Seattle.
"Seattle is one of the main logistical centers in the U.S west coast, the seat of several huge multinational companies. Therefore, we referred more to Macedonia as a place for investments of logistics companies due to its geographic location. Moreover, we focused on the IT companies, since the head offices of Microsoft and other IT giants are based in Seattle", stressed Vice Premier for Economic Affairs Vladimir Pesevski.
