Successful international cooperation in 2012: Culture Council

The Culture Council saluted Thursday the active international cooperation and representation of Macedonian culture abroad. Besides culture cooperation agreements signed with six states, Macedonia was also affirmed in Kiev, London and Brussels, as well as at events and festivals it regularly takes part in.

"Achieved results were positively assessed by Culture Council members. We located the points where more intensive work is required in the future, in order to enhance cultural ties with other countries in promoting Macedonian culture in global terms", said Culture Minister Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska at a press conference following the meeting.

The Ministry has supported 230 international cooperation projects of national institutions, NGOs, individual artists and culture-information centers in Sofia and New York.

Moreover, the Culture Council asked for increased engagement of publishing houses in Macedonia's promotion at book fairs worldwide.

In 2013, Macedonia will send its representatives at renowned culture events, such as the Venice Art Biennial, international book fairs, whereas the country will be promoted in Marseille, which alongside Kosice is next year's European Culture Capital. In addition, the third international religious conference will be held in Ohrid next May.
